Swiss Life's relationship with RMF is a joint venture, and the two firms work closely together. Swiss Life currently has seven people in Swiss Life Hedge Fund Partners and is looking for more. RMF has developed from 20 people in 1998 to 90 people today.

Siegrist also says that Swiss Life is moving from being a pure life insurance company to being a financial service provider for long-term savings. "We want to be a big player in alternative investments in Europe, in hedge funds and private equity as well," adds Siegrist.
